Eric Schwer had much to answer when he and Gabby Windy but found again The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose on Tuesday, 20 September.
After 29-year-old real estate analyst proposed to 31-year-old Gabby, Jesse Palmer Confronted Erich about a woman named Amanda Kaylor Who claimed that Erich broke things off between them in March after two months of dating to go on the show. In a series of alleged text messages prior to filming, Erich apologized to Amanda for trying to be open to the idea of dating him when he returned because he was only going on the ABC series because he felt that is “stuck in” [his] career path.”
She wrote to him, “When you go on a reality show to ‘find love’, all you expected of me was that I would continue to date you.” Erich reportedly replied, “It’s not real, but you’re right. I’m sorry I didn’t really think through all of this. … I didn’t realize the implications. I’m sorry I thought we were on this.” About to get on the same page. I really didn’t mean to hurt you.”
On Tuesday, Erich admitted he handled the situation “poorly”.
“I pushed her and I want to own her. No hard feelings towards this girl at all. I understand her antics. … I didn’t want to have a difficult conversation. But I learned a lot from it. I want to own that 100 percent. I don’t have any hard feelings for this girl. It’s a mistake I made on my part,” he said.
When Jesse Palmer Read the text message, Erich said: “I was using the show as an excuse not to confront him about our relationship. I didn’t see any future but we were having fun. … I like [Gabby] with all my heart. 100 percent genuine. I never expected this. I want it to last forever.”
Gabby then confirmed that Erich had told her about the text messages before it was leaked earlier this month, referring to her as “kind” and “honest” — and then jokingly calling her an “a-hole”. Before confirming that he forgave her.
Earlier in the episode, the ICU nurse got engaged to Eric. The episode picked up where part of the finale, which aired on September 13, ended—with Gabby in tears, with the New Jersey native expressing doubts about a proposal.
“In the real world, I want to date you,” Erich said. “Getting engaged before it happens isn’t usually how things go.”
Gabby breaks down, running away from Erich and crying to the producers.
“I don’t want to force him into my decision,” she said. “I want to be with Erich forever – that’s why I want him to propose. What should I do? Walk away because he’s not ready to propose?”
During part two, however, Erich clarified his feelings and popped the question with a Neil Lane diamond. “You really make me feel like I am the only person in the world. And I will fight every day for the rest of my life to keep that feeling. I love you, Gabby Windy,” he said. “You are awesome. You are the most wonderful person I have ever met. It’s you and me until the wheels fall. I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. ,
Leading up to the finale, Erich also made headlines for another controversy. On September 9, when an “insensitive photo” of the contestant in blackface from his high school yearbook surfaced again, he apologized “with all his heart”.
“What I thought at the time was a representation of my love for Jimi Hendrix, nothing but ignorance,” he wrote via Instagram. “I was gullible about the harmful effects my actions had on the black community and those closest to me, and I will always regret my aggressive and hurtful behavior. I am deeply ashamed of my actions and I understand that my apology will take accountability. is the first step.
