Between formal celebrations, speeches, prayers and songwriting at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral on Monday, members of the royal family found cool ways to celebrate the Queen through fashion.

Many of the women closest to the queen wore pieces of jewelry and clothing given by the late emperor or symbolizing her influence.

Meghan Markle

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle wore pearl-and-diamond drop earrings gifted by the Queen.

The Duchess of Sussex attended the funeral on Monday wearing pearl-and-diamond drop earrings gifted by the Queen. The earrings were given in honor of the pair’s first solo outing in 2018.

Maxwell Stone of Britain’s jeweler Steven Stone told First Page Six: “The royal tradition of wearing pearls for mourning dates back to Queen Victoria, who was so overwhelmed with grief after the death of Prince Albert that she wore black for the rest of her life.” Wearing nothing but that.” Style.

Kate Middleton made sure her outfit was full of symbolism on Monday, wearing a dress from Queen Elizabeth’s pearls and a black Alexander McQueen coat that was a black version of the same coat she wore to Platinum Jubilee earlier this year was.

The Princess of Wales wore the same pearl earrings – gifted by the ruler of Bahrain to the Queen for their wedding in 1947 – to Prince Philip’s funeral.

Notably, she also wore a Queen’s four-row pearl choker with a diamond clasp.

According to The Court Jeweller, the necklace was made from pearls, which were “a gift from the Japanese government, possibly acquired during the 1970s, when she made a state visit to that country.”

Kate previously wore the choker – to a dinner celebrating the Queen and Prince Philip’s 70th anniversary.

Princess Charlotte

According to reports, the seven-year-old Princess Charlotte wore a diamond brooch in the shape of a horseshoe, which was given to her by her late great-grandmother, the Queen.

The brooch was the first time the princess, who is third in line to the throne after her father Prince William and older brother Prince George, wore a symbolically profusely.

Queen Elizabeth was a noted animal lover and was particularly fond of horses.
