Chris Hemsworth says that getting more jacked for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ was ‘particularly hard’ and ‘exhausting’

  • Chris Hemsworth said that his fitness regimen for “Thor: Love and Thunder” was “particularly difficult”.
  • The actor said that the target load for this installment was quite high.
  • “Maybe I’m getting old, but things are just starting to hurt more,” Hemsworth said.

Chris Hemsworth said that even more reprimand for “Thor: Love and Thunder” was challenging and took a toll on him.

“Every time I’ve played a character and put muscle on and out of shape, and then lost it for something else and played another character, there’s muscle memory, and I used to say it’s easier every time. It gets done,” Hemsworth said in the latest installment of Marvel’s behind-the-scenes documentary, called “Assemblage,” released Thursday on Disney+.

He continued: “It was especially tough. I think because the target weight we aimed for was pretty much above where I was before.”

The Australian actor’s body has gotten bigger and more muscular with each appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Hemsworth has portrayed the God of Thunder since the first standalone “Thor” film was released in 2011. In addition to voice work for season one of “Loki” and “”, he has reprized roles for the “Thor” sequels and the “Avengers” films. What If…?”

He is set to return again as Thor in the yet-to-be-announced project, as indicated by the ending of “Love and Thunder”.

For “Love and Thunder”, Hemsworth said he spent 12 months at home, “simply training and puppeting the body” and mixing up his workout routines with swimming or martial arts.

“It was a really fun exploration, but I don’t know if I want to do it big again,” he said in the documentary “Monsage”.

“It was just exhausting,” Hemsworth said. “I don’t know, maybe I’m getting old, but things are just starting to hurt more.”

The actor previously opened up about his training for the fourth “Thor” film in an interview with USA Today.

Hemsworth said he grew up for the film more than ever and attributed it to the “boredom” brought on by the COVID lockdown.

“It was train, eat, train, eat. Nothing else to do,” he explained. “Then I went out for a bigger movie than ever before.”

The “Extraction” star also stated that his wife Elsa Pataky, who has a cameo in the film, was not a big fan of his more muscular body and called it “too much”.

“I have a lot of male friends who say ‘Yeah!’ But a lot of female friends and family are like ‘yak’,” he said.
