Christine Brown revealed an early red flag in her marriage to Cody Brown on the season 17 premiere of TLC’s “Sister Wives,” which aired Sunday.
According to Christine, their union had begun to “disintegrate” in 2009 when she was pregnant with their youngest daughter, Trulli, while filming season one of the family’s reality show.
“I still had to produce some sort of income, so I was working nights and in fifth grade Aspin was putting the kids to bed at night,” she said on Sunday’s episode, referring to her eldest daughter. explained in a single interview. Kodi. Christine said that Aspin, who was 10 at the time, “was driving the house.”
“I asked Cody, I said, ‘I need your help,’ and he goes, ‘I can’t do that, I’m in other houses,'” she said. The Brown family at that time lived in a large house with an attached apartment. Christine said that even when she pointed it out to Cody, she refused to help him with his kids.
At the time Christine was pregnant with Trulli, she and Cody and Christine already had Aspin and four other children: son Paddon, and daughters Mykelti, Gwendolyn, and, Isabel.
In his own solo interview, Cody told the cameras that the behavior Christine was referring to “never happened.”
“She didn’t want fairness with other wives, she wanted more,” he said. Because she was asking for stuff I couldn’t give her because I had other wives and other kids too. ,
Christine and Cody announced their split in November after more than 25 years of a “spiritual” marriage. Sunday’s season premiere of “Sister Wives” Season 17, titled “It’s Over,” was mostly devoted to the initial conversation the former couple had about ending their union.
During the discussion, Christine also brought up the fact that Cody rarely visited his house before his strict COVID-19 rules prevented him from staying.
“Suppose we’ve been living here for 800 days,” Christine said in her solo interview, referring to Flagstaff, Arizona. Not once did he even get into the water. He went with us three times. Three out of 800.”
In response to Christine’s claim, in her solo interview, Cody said, “I don’t have time to play like she has time to play. I have a lot of work to do and too many responsibilities.”
“Looks like what you’ve been doing all day? It’s definitely not cooking and cleaning because…” he added before giving up. “Listen, there’s nothing to say here.”
This isn’t the first time the show has shown a rift in the relationship between Cody and their kids with Christine.
In season 16 of the show, viewers noticed that Cody decided not to travel to New Jersey after Isabelle underwent surgery for scoliosis because traveling was a danger during COVID-19. Instead, only Christine went with her daughter.
“I think his priorities are a little bad,” Yasabel said of her father’s choices at the time.
