Disney’s CEO teases a “hard bundle” of Disney Plus and Hulu

A “hard bundle” of Disney Plus and Hulu could be coming in the next few years if Disney CEO Bob Chapek has anything to say about it. Chapek spoke to Los Angeles Times Last weekend during Disney’s big fan event, D23. This was the first time he spoke about the company and its myriad controversies over the past two years. What he said was pretty neutral, but then he got into talks of the future of Hulu, the streaming giant currently co-owned by Comcast, and Chapek showed his cards… just a little bit.

Disney is currently on the hook to buy Comcast’s stake in Hulu in early 2024. The two companies are talking about what Hulu is actually worth — Comcast claims it could be worth as much as $70 billion. (As this deal stands, Hulu is valued at about $27.5 billion.)

There are plenty of questions about what will happen to the service when Hulu is finally completely under Disney’s control. Will all of its content stop on Disney Plus? Or will Disney Plus content move to Hulu? Or will both exist in this awkward and super confusing situation?

Chapek was very careful in his interview not to show his hand, saying Times That he would entertain this question only after Disney bought a stake in Comcast. He offered some solutions for the ultimate future. One was copying the European version of Disney Plus which has all the Disney content along with more adult fare.
