Fox 2 anchor Vic Faust fired from TV station after tirade

Fox 2 News anchor Vic Faust, who last week directed hate speech on a female co-host on a local radio show, has been fired by the television station.

“Vic Faust no longer works for Fox 2, KPLR (Channel 11) or Nexstar Media,” the station’s general manager, Kurt Kruger, said Wednesday morning. Nexstar Media Group is the parent company of Fox 2.

Krueger declined to comment further, citing personnel restrictions.

Faust used profanity at least 40 times to reprimand Crystal Cooper, who was part of Faust’s morning-drive show on KFNS (100.7 FM) on 13 September, also known as “The Viper”. did.

In a social media post on Twitter at around 12:45 pm, Faust issued an apology.

“I’m so sorry. My words hurt Crystal, my colleagues and family. I made a huge mistake and I’m ashamed,” Faust’s post said.

On September 13, Faust lashed out at Cooper for her weight and parenting skills, and addressed her repeatedly with a curse word directed at women.

He also called her “fat,” “stupid” and “bad,” and at one point said, “Your kids have a (devoid of) terrible mom. I’m sorry for that.”

Faust has been a main news anchor at KTVI (Channel 2), the local Fox affiliate, for more than seven years. Most recently, he was co-hosting the 5 pm and 9 pm shifts with Mandy Murphy.

After the explosion was reported by Post-Dispatch on Monday, Faust did not return to the air, and the radio show appears to have been put on hold.

The explosion, which occurred off-air, was recorded digitally and sent anonymously to the post-dispatch tip line.

Faust’s harangu seems to have been sparked in the closing minutes of last week’s radio show. Faust and Cooper engage in an uneasy exchange after Cooper is irritated by Faust’s criticism of his computer skills.

During a commercial break for the morning show at 100.7, the co-hosts argued with each other over their behavior. The audio has been edited.


At one point, Faust tells Cooper not to return to the show.

“If you come back, I’m going to be in your (without) every (without) day,” said Faust, who said he would call you a (disrespectful) every day.

The radio station is licensed out of Troy, Missouri, and has studios in Lake St. Louis. General Manager Chris Blevins could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.

After graduating from the University of Missouri, where he played football, Faust worked in sports and news in Columbia and St. Joseph, Missouri; Tulsa; and Detroit. He left Detroit after 11 years to work at Fox 2.
