Echo, the upcoming MCU spin-off featuring Daredevil and Kingpin, got its first trailer today.
Alaqua Cox as Echo in the upcoming Disney+ show following the character’s debut in the recent Hawkeye Show. Now, we get a glimpse into Echo’s past as the new trailer shows the look of his face as that of an old friend.
The trailer begins with scenes from Echo’s family and ancestors. She unwraps a prosthetic leg that’s covered in gold—the leftover of her days with the kingpin, probably. She’s out on a mission, gunning down a street gang in a bowling alley. Then, she looks at his hands which are glowing…
Next thing we know, Echo is on a train. Her fight scenes are interspersed with scenes of Native Americans shooting black and white cowboys. Poignant, given his Native American heritage. Then, Echo comes face-to-face with the kingpin… and it looks like he’s losing an eye.
After the clip, Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio explained why he loved coming back as the kingpin.
“Bringing Fisk and Maya together again was an absolute thrill,” he said. “I saw Alequa’s abilities when we did Haqavike and we had some crazy scenes. To be with another actor who has the talent that she does where we’re just 1 on 1 with each other, It is full of his abilities.”
The last time the pair met, their story reached an explosive conclusion that the kingpin was about to escape, only to be confronted by Echo. Off-screen, a gunshot is heard… and it’s as if she managed to shoot her dear old uncle.
