MEGHAN MCCAIN: No Oprah, Harry and Meghan’s truce won’t last

The eyes of the world are on Britain. The future of the British monarchy has come together to mourn the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. It has been a dramatic and emotional experience for billions of people.

Most notably, the ‘Fab Four’ have called for a ceasefire.

A global audience watched as feuding brothers Prince William and Harry – and their feudal wives – got together in a rare joint appearance to greet the Queen’s mourners and review flowers and gifts left outside Buckingham Palace Walk, where the queen’s coffin returned on Tuesday after 500 miles. Traveling from Scotland.

Why, even when Harry and Meghan accuse their family of racism, cruelty and more, Oprah still thinks there is hope for a royal reconciliation

What happens from here is anyone’s guess. But here’s mine: This peace is temporary.

It is more than a ceasefire.

I really didn’t have a very strong view of the royals until Harry and Meghan split on the scene.

Since then, I have recognized that there is much to appreciate – especially the inspiring example set by the Queen. But I also found out something else: Meghan doesn’t mind splitting the royal family.

And here’s why: Harry and Meghan are in the business of Harry and Meghan. And when they are causing chaos, business is good.

Because these professional firefighters have made their choice.

After leaving town, they are no longer working royals and don’t want to be.

He wants to be an A-list celebrity in America. they want to make shaped like Barack and Michelle Obama Money from podcasts and streaming deals. And possibly most importantly, they don’t want to play second fiddle to anyone.

To be blunt – they want to be King Harry and Queen Meghan.

There was a minor uproar this week after the royal family updated the line of succession to the throne.

Prince William is now second only to King Charles, and Prince Williams’ three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are next in line.

Next come Harry and his children, Archie and Lillibet. But he has not officially been given the titles of prince and princess, which is his traditional right as the grandson of a monarch – as they are now.

I know! Who cares!

Well, I’m sure there’s one person who does, and his name rhymes with beggar.

It’s one of many frivolous flares that could convince Meghan to shout once again, ‘With their heads off,’ and all the royals run over to Oprah to do the dirty laundry.

No matter how many magazines cover Harry and Meghan’s grace, or the interviews they give or they bombard Oprah, they will never rule England.

This peace is temporary. It is more than a ceasefire.

This peace is temporary. It is more than a ceasefire.

The spotlight will never be on them like William and Kate. He has made it abundantly clear over the past two years that this is an unacceptable way of life for him.

So, the next best thing for Harry and Meghan & Co. is that everyone should keep fighting. To be a little sly, it’s better for them to trade if we’re divided.

They can’t make as much money inside the royal family as they can outside it – isolated and suffering. If everyone is forced to choose a side, it is easier for them to gain attention and demonstrate their increasingly progressive political beliefs.

Remember, Harry has a tell-all book coming up to promote.

But I have a caveat for them. Public opinion is changing.

The passing of Queen Elizabeth brings sadness, honor and understanding of the role she played in the world.

And there is a very human aspect of it all. The Queen spent her final years dealing with the drama it brought to her and the rest of her family. It puts things in perspective.

There was a time when even the slightest criticism of Harry and Meghan led one to label racist and possibly lose their jobs – ask Piers Morgan or Sharon Osbourne.

Now criticism of Harry and Meghan is more common and there is no media backlash.

Wok-superhero and CNN host Don Lemon admitted that Meghan was coming from a ‘place of privilege’ before marrying Harry.

(Ouch! To say that someone is privileged is almost a slur nowadays.)

Even Oprah Winfrey said she hoped the death of Queen Elizabeth would give Harry and Meghan an opportunity to ‘make peace’ with their families.

And that’s it.

Now one of the most pertinent questions is: Can the royal family survive the Harry and Meghan-era melodrama and chaos?

Wok-superhero and CNN host Don Lemon admitted that Meghan was coming from a 'place of privilege' before marrying Harry.

Wok-superhero and CNN host Don Lemon admitted that Meghan was coming from a ‘place of privilege’ before marrying Harry.

It looks like a climb.

According to recent polling, while the monarchy is supported by most age groups in Great Britain, it is among those over the age of 65 where the level of support is highest at 77 percent.

Younger age groups are progressively more likely to oppose the monarchy, with 31 percent aged 18-24 rather than an elected head of state.

So, is this the curtain for the royals? I’ll leave that question to my British friends.

But I do know this: If Harry and Meghan find something unconsciously minor, or even if their bank account gets depleted, they’ll be back on their crusade against the royal family.

For all her hands on reconciliation, Oprah would welcome him onto her show for making more vicious accusations—without the slightest pushback.

The progressive stars of American media will happily take them back into the fold and tell us all just how awful British (and American) culture really is.

This is the truth. And if King Charles and Prince William want a fighting chance, it’s better to start fighting back.

William and Kate must stand their ground in front of the world’s Generation Zers.

Explain how they can continue your grandmother’s legacy and work to maintain the critically important US/UK bond.

Back off against vague and selfish attacks on your characters.

Because if they don’t, centuries of tradition will only be used as fodder for the budding careers of King Harry and Queen Meghan.
